Update 2014 Pontiac Firebird Concept

Pontiac has announced it will unveil an updated 2014 Firebird at the upcoming New York Auto Show. The 2014 Firebird will be one of Two global debuts for Pontiac at the New York show.

As always, details surrounding the 2014 Firebird's refresh remain a closely-guarded secret, but Pontiac promises the 2014 version of the pony car will boast advances in its “design and performance attributes.”

That means the 2014 Firebird is probably in line for a slight nip and tuck, but we don't expect any major changes as an all-new 2014 model is just a few years out. Powertrains should carryover, although previous rumors suggest Pontiac is working on an Trans Am version of the Firebird.

Our spy photographers spotted a 2014 Firebird prototype (pictured) earlier this year that could have been a testbed for the new model. That mystery Firebird, which was spied in Michigan, sported a revised front grille and an new exhaust system.

The 2014 Firebird Trans Am will be joined on the New York stage by updated versions of the
Buick LaCrosse and Regal. GM's all-new Chevrolet SS and Cadillac CTS are also scheduled to make their world debuts in NY.
